The Ropeway Conference 2024 of the German Ropeway Association (VDS) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was a complete success and brought exciting developments for the entire industry - including some important new elections.
New board elected at the VDS
The general meeting elected Henrik Volpert, CEO of Oberstdorfer Bergbahn AG and Nebelhornbahn AG, as the new 1st Chairman of the VDS. He succeeds Matthias Stauch, CEO of Bayrische Zugspitzbahn AG, whom we would like to take this opportunity to thank for his many years of commitment to the ropeway industry. Karl Dirnhofer from Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG was elected as 1st deputy, while Antonia Asenstorfer, Managing Director of Brauneck- und Wallbergbahnen GmbH, remains active as 2nd deputy.
sitour takes on the role of spokesperson in the support group
Particularly pleasing for sitour - werbe gmbh: our Managing Director, Benjamin Grütze, was unanimously elected as the new spokesperson for the VDS Sponsors' Association. Benjamin succeeds Rolf Härtl (Carl Stahl GmbH) as the previous deputy and will be supported by Wolfgang Lutz, sales employee at Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG, as the new deputy. Both are looking forward to working together and to continuing to strongly represent and further develop the association's work.
Success in the recognition of Austrian ropeway technician training
Another milestone was reached in the training issue: the VDS's efforts to achieve equivalence of the Austrian ropeway technician training with the German industrial mechanic have paid off. Thanks to the support of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, the equivalence was officially recognized for the first graduates.
